Well done to our 2 teams who competed yesterday at the RDS Team Show-jumping qualifiers. Both teams done very well and rode excellent rounds however that little bit of luck which is so often needed in the show jumping arena was not on their side on the day and an unlucky pole down lost Team 2 (Shaun, Rudy, Sally & Emily) the opportunity to compete in a jump- off for the wild card spot in Stradbally. They did however finish in 5th place overall and Shaun and Rudy were more than happy to proudly wear their fancy pink rosettes in public later that evening. While Micky and John wear somewhat jealous of Shaun and Rudy’s new fashion statement, the thought of the journey home was more than enough to keep their spirits up. Unsurprisingly, Carmel didn’t show quite the same enthusiasm about the journey….
It was unanimously agreed that the DG round of the day went to Shaun, who arriving late after mechanical problems on the way down, was told there was only 2 riders in front of him, and in a mad rush to get Colourado tacked up, with no opportunity to walk the course or properly warm up, delivered the club’s first clear round, and indeed one of the first clear rounds from the first group of riders of the day.
Well done to all our competitors – Micky, Carmel, John & Trisha and Shaun, Rudy, Sally & Emily. Congratulations to the winning Benbulben team who had a well deserved 1st place on a zero score.
