53 riders from all over the Western Region, including clubs outside the region, took part in the Regional Training day at Cloncaw Equestrian Centre in Glaslough on Sunday 28th July. This training day was organised by the Donegal Clubs and received funding from the Western Region of the AIRC to help run it.
Riders received fantastic training in Dressage, Show Jumping and Cross Country. Charles Maudlin and Helen Nolan took charge of the cross country lessons, Mandi King, Carla Lennon and Tricia Warren ran the show jumping lessons while Anthea Rainsbury and Carla Lennon led the dressage training. This was a great opportunity for riders to receive excellent training from knowledgable and encouraging trainers in each of the three disciplines and positive feedback was received from all those that took part. The good weather held out for as long as possible and just broke in the last half hour of lessons, unfortunately drenching anyone that was out! There were a couple of spills on the cross country course but thankfully everyone walked away in one piece after being given the all clear by the Red Cross who made sure they were with the lessons at all stages during the day.
Many thanks to each of the trainers who made the day both beneficial and enjoyable for all taking part, the Red Cross for taking good care of everyone and to the AIRC for providing funding without which the training day could not have gone ahead. Roll on next year!
