The club had a great turn out at Letterkenny Riding Club’s Spring Show at Lenamore Stables on Sunday 6th May and the beautiful weather teamed with the club’s top results certainly made it a memorable day out!
The day got off to a great start with club members claiming the top four spots in the Advanced Primary Show Jumping. Rosaleen Harkin came out top of the grade just ahead of Lawrence Smyth in second place. Anne Harkin came in third with Roisin Mc Gee rounding out the top four. In the Primary/Advanced Primary Pairs competition the club were to the fore again with Rosaleen and Lawrence coming in second place while Roisin, paired with Letterkeny’s Hazel Mahoney came third.
It was Packie Ferry who proved to be the club’s hero of the day, winning the ever highly contested Intermediate grade in a thrilling jump-off, just pipping Benbulben’s Finola Murphy to the post! Carmel was not to be outdone by husband Packie, and rode a great round to come in fifth place with Rachael Mc Crossan coming in sixth.
In the Intermediate and Above Take Your Own Line Competition Packie came in second, knocked off first place by Letterkenny’s Francis Mc Nicholl who rode a perfect round to take the well deserved red ribbon. Carmel had another great round on Pepe coming fifth in the class.
In the Dressage competition it was Rachael who took the top honours in the Intermediate grade and finally fulfilled her long term goal of winning a rug! Sister Ruth came in third in the same competition while in the Advance Primary Grade Anne Harkin came second and Carmel Ferry third .
Congratulations to all who took part and a big thank you to Letterkenny Riding Club for hosting another great show – looking forward to the next one!
